On Saturday 20th July, 2019, the SEAO team along with their partners embarked on a 9 mile hike along Hadrian’s Wall in support of NCT Mid-Northumberland. With a target of £250 donations topped £370 by the day of the hike.
The team met bright and early (6.30am to be precise) and started their journey from Walltown on what was a drizzly and humid morning. But this did not dampen spirits as the tribe powered through with the help of some treats and good humour along the way.
Laura was responsible for planning the route and had mentioned to the team that it was moderately strenuous – she even told her husband that he would be walking in a straight line. She lied! The team were challenged by steep climbs, endless hills and slippy descents, not to mention the cow pats and flies! Despite all of this morale remained high and the team completed the route in 4.5 hours, being met at Housesteads by NCT volunteers Catherine and Lara.
Krispycreme donuts, beers and gin in a tin were consumed in the carpark (classy bunch) and the team headed home for a well deserved nap.
NCT Mid Northumberland was formed in June 2017 when a few new Mums joined forces to revive a branch which had been dormant for years. The branch’s aim is to support parents through their first 1000 days, during pregnancy and up to celebrating their child’s second birthday, for all the challenges and rewards, highs and lows during that time.
